You need it to defeat argorok after all. If the Dark Link outfit is worn, Epona will become Dark Epona, sharing the same shadowy coloration and red eyes as Dark Link. Im pretty sure you get it in the twilight era section of the story mode. There's also ones in Eldin Caves and Faron Woods. For example, there's one in the north of Hyrule Field, the first area of the game (and, if you're just following the story checkpoints, it's quite far out of your way). Proceed to wet yourself as you immediately bring down the moon on whatever unfortunate soul you. Level 1 is Epona's Hyrule Warriors design, while Level 2 is her Twilight Princess design, and Level 3 is her original Ocarina of Time design. I noticed areas on Legend Mode maps that are only accessible by Hookshot, much earlier than when you actually obtain the Hookshot. Use the hookshot on any enemy while the powerup is active. Interestingly, when using the Hookshot when equipped with this moveset, the Hookshot will pull up both Link and Epona together. This weapon type is unique, in that Epona can cause damage to enemies and objects simply by moving around. Like Link's Knight's Sword, Epona has a Light Elemental Attribute. When Epona's Carrot gauge is full, she can charge ahead with Strong Attack and can charge by holding the Strong Attack button at the end of a combo. While riding Epona, Link can attack with his Knight's Sword and use his Bow to fire arrows during combat, while Epona can damage enemies (and objects like grass and pots) by running over them and attacking enemies with her hooves. It allows Link to ride his steed and faithful companion, Epona, into battle.
